GBV Awareness Campaigns

MRF’s GBV awareness campaigns Strengthening GBV prevention, risk mitigation and response. GBV awareness campaigns were carried out in three districts in Burtinle, Garowe and Galkacyo, these districts usually records highest prevalence of GBV cases, especially rape and domestic violence. Thus, awareness raising sessions focused on rape and domestic violence through community discussions on what are the root causes of these issues, the contributing factors and existing mechanisms to support response. The immediate direct beneficiaries were 4844 “3471 Women and 1373 Men from IDPs and community members in the target population.

IEC materials with GBV advocacy messages- earlier developed were used during the session and distributed afterward. An information campaign on GBV risks and prevention has also been developed and disseminated through community discussion, posters, T-shirts, and local radios to reach rural communities.
